We are recruiting for an Assistant Site Manager to join a busy retail contractor delivering projects across the UK. Specialising in new build and fit out works for a leading national retailer, the company has a strong pipeline of work and an excellent reputation for delivering on time and to high quality standards.
The Project
This role is based in Wantage, working on a new retail unit with a handover date in December 2025. You will be supporting the Site Manager in day-to-day site operations, ensuring the smooth running of the project through to completion.
Responsibilities

Assisting the Site Manager in overseeing site activities.

Supervising subcontractors and trades on site.

Monitoring site safety, inductions, and toolbox talks.

Supporting with progress reporting and record keeping.

Ensuring works are carried out to the required quality standards.
Requirements

SMSTS, CSCS & First Aid – essential.

Previous experience in retail fit out or new build projects.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively within a team and take responsibility when needed.
