Our service users have an array of complex sensory and communicative needs, and some have physiological problems such as dysphagia where there is a risk of choking presenting significant risk to life.
You will lead group therapeutic sessions, helping people develop and improve their speech and communication. Building one-to-one rapport with service users, you will encourage engagement and empower recovery.
You will have experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
You will have support from a Speech and Language Assistant, Regional Lead Speech and Language Therapist. You will also provide clinical supervision for the Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.

As a Speech and Language Therapist you will :
Provide a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment and interventions within the service area providing as required.
Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention to service users, depending on the needs of the service.
Assist the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in maintaining efficient and effective services including identifying necessary changes to provision.
Participate fully with the multidisciplinary / transdisciplinary team and ensure that the service user outcomes are aligned to aid their ongoing management.
Take appropriate action where concerns are raised with regards to performance or conduct of others via raising to senior management as required.
Promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all service users, employees and visitors.
Ensure the confidentiality, security and accuracy of data and information and compliance with regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
Maintain and evidence standards of competence as defined by the HCPC and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Provision of SLT advice and consultation to others involved in service user’s care.As an autonomous practitioner, he/she will be responsible for their own work and interventions and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies.
To supervise junior staff/students as directed by the role holder’s line manager.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Successful completion of professional qualification, enabling registration with the HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist.
To be a RCSLT Member
Registration with the HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist.
2 years’ experience or more working as a HCPC Speech and Language Therapist.
Experience (either pre training on training or subsequently) of working with people with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
Experience of supporting junior staff including students.
Exceptional written English skills
